PREPARATIONS
for

Easter Sunday
All Saints' Church East Garston
Easter commemorates the resurrection of Jesus Christ. It is the most important Christian festival, and the one celebrated with the
greatest joy.
Churches are filled with flowers, and there are special hymns and songs.
The Easter story is at the heart of Christianity. On Good Friday, Jesus Christ was executed by crucifixion. His body was taken down from the cross, and buried in a cave. The tomb was guarded and an enormous stone was put over the entrance, so that no-one could steal the body.On the following Sunday, some women visited the grave and found that the stone had been moved, and that the tomb was empty. Jesus himself was seen that day, and for days afterwards by many people. His followers realised that God had raised Jesus from the dead

Saturday Morning and Preparations for the following day's Service get under way.
Victoria, Emma and Ann work feverishly on the church window displays

Outside the construction of the Easter Garden begins.  I must confess that I had no knowledge of Easter Gardens until my good friend Reverend Cumberlidge introduced one at this years Easter Sunday Service. It seems they can vary in size from a small seed tray to one you can actually walk into. Isabella, along with her Mum Carolyn, and Churchwarden Sally Wright have opted to construct a garden that will fit nicely on the top of the font. Alexander takes a look but I think by the expression on his face - he is not too impressed with the look and feel of Sally's clump of wet green moss.

Ah ! Yes -Thats more like - Alexander homes in on the watering can, this is much more fun.   A good soaking to preserve the freshness of the newly created garden, two quick photos then it was time to move it into position within the church..
An off duty Reverend Cumberlidge drops by to see how things are progressing and is delighted with the results of the mornings work
The floral arrangement on the east window was the work of Sally wright.incorporating Lillies that came courtesy of Cynthia Ponsford.
