The
Gift Day came about as a means of raising funds for the upkeep
of the church, and consisted primarily of the Vicar and churchwarden
sitting outside of the village shop with a basket, hoping passers-by
would donate money. Not, I feel sure, a pleasant task for a
Vicar, or anyone else for that matter. In 2006 a new idea blossomed
which brought people into the church in droves and with it,
the superb amount of £4,500 for the church coiffeurs.
Yes indeed, Gift Week 2006 was a runaway success in every way. |
