The Gift Day came about as a means of raising funds for the upkeep of the church, and consisted primarily of the Vicar and churchwarden sitting outside of the village shop with a basket, hoping passers-by would donate money. Not, I feel sure, a pleasant task for a Vicar, or anyone else for that matter. In 2006 a new idea blossomed which brought people into the church in droves and with it, the superb amount of £4,500 for the church coiffeurs. Yes indeed, Gift Week 2006 was a runaway success in every way.

Gift Weekend
2006

In 2007 the original "Gift Weekend" evolved into "The Gift Week" It followed the basic pattern of its predecessor but with the addition of several very interesting specialist talks from, amongst others, Peter Durant and Geoffrey Tyack. However, the week long format proved unpopular with parishioners. The weekends were well attended, but the combination of very cold weather and the 7pm start for the lectures, saw the weekdays suffer from low attendance. Most, quite understandably, opting to stay at home in the warm after a day's work.
