Rugby players from Premiership side Harlequins visited the Social Club here in East Garston on Saturday the 11th of November. Why were they here? Well, earlier in the year East Garston Social Club members beat over 100 London and the home counties pubs and clubs to win the, 2006 Greene-King Whoop at the Stoop Competition. Twelve members, six of them wearing EGSC handmade rugby shirts went to the Twickenham Stoop to watch Harlequins Rugby League play the famous Wigan on Sunday 10th September in a must win game. To their amazement they were chosen by the 5700 fans watching as the best dressed and were invited onto the pitch at half time As part of the competition they are having one of their handmade rugby shirts signed by all of the Harlequins Rugby League team.

All six members won a Harlequins replica shirt and were asked to kick a conversion. But only Alan Money - chairman of East Garston Village Hall and Social Club, managed to score two conversions.

Players, Chad Randall, Matt Gafa and Daniel Heckenberg mixed and mingled with 40 odd club members, playing games of Pool and Darts with not only the adult members but with the younger residents of the village.

Big smiles all round as the evening developed into a really friendly, thoroughly enjoyable event.
During the evening, Chairman Alan Money was presented
with the signed match ball from the Harlequins vs Wigan match played at the Stoop.
