"Fireworks and Fun"
Photos by Ken Tarbox

This year the Village Hall and Social Club held a fun evening based loosely around Guy Fawkes and Halloween.  The scene was set and scheduled to start at 8.00pm.  I arrived at  7.45 and was pleasantly surprised to see a full car park and a large crowd  of  familiar and indeed, unfamiliar faces.  It was an unusually warm evening for November, so warm in fact that someone suggested we should have held an outdoor BBQ - the weather being better than that of the summer dance earlier in the year.
Alan and Ray controlled the colourful display and as you can clearly see they did us proud.  An appreciative audience made all the right noises and rapturous applause was the order of the day at the finale

As the last firework exploded into life, Colin suddenly appeared on his Mum's broomstick (Sorry Sally) and flew majestically across the darkened sky,  performing an aerobatic routine that the Red Arrows would have been proud to be associated with..

After the fireworks were over, those that came just for that purpose left us, but not before quite sizable donations had been made towards the funding of further events, such as  the over sixties Christmas party.  Around forty people stayed to enjoy the rest of the evening - and enjoy it we did.  As they say, time flies when your having fun, and before we knew it, Wendy was giving us the order of the boot.  All traces of the disgraceful history associated with some of the previous regimes that ran these premises, has in my opinion been totally irradicated.  There is a welcoming feeling here now, people smile and speak when you enter. Whereas several years back, the policy most often adopted was to stare at you as if you were something that came in stuck to the bottom of someone's shoe.

Well done to the current team you have pulled off a minor miracle with this place.
Suffice to say that you deserve far more support than you actually get.
