Karaoke Night

East Garston Social Club 2008

The village hall & bar or social club, whichever you prefer to call it, has seen quite a substantial upturn in its fortunes of late. The hosting of private functions has increased quite dramatically.  It seems that more and more outside communities have discovered the excellent faciities available to them and are in turn, making darn good use of them. This particular family evening was in fact a local affair, organised by Wendy Smith. Wendy's bubbly nature and her enthusiasm for bit of harmless fun soon had the place singing and dancing to the karaoke machine.

(below right)  Brooke gives a clear and definititive opinion on Barry's Mick Jagger impression.
Although primarily a private function, the Smith family welcomed participation by any of the regular Saturday night patrons who wished to join in and have a go. Lisa O'Neil was the first in this catagory to take the mike, giving us a polished version of Peggy Lee's classic song ..."Fever"

Two of the evenings younger artists take on Abba's "Dancing Queen whilst Clare,Wendy, Becky and Sophie discuss their next masterpiece.
Tim, Colin, Emily and Emma go for it ~ dance moves included.
The Rolling Stones, Rod Stewart and Madness were all covered by the extrovert male contingent of the evening

Goodness me...ever wished you were a pool table??
Such a pleasure to see whole families out and about together, quite a rarity these days.
Barmen and staunch Liverpool supporters, Alan Money and Raymond Baker photographed during a break in procceedings.
But it didn't stay quiet for long. Wendy Sally and Clare kick off the next session with classic moves and a spirited vocal performance.

Rock N' Roll moves from Leeaan and Sarah.......  (above right) Tim spots a spider coming towards him and promptly leaves the floor.
You don't need me to tell you that this was a real fun evening as the photos above speak for themselves. Wendy has indicated that she may do the same thing again in the not to distant future. If she does then why not come along and join in. You don't have to sing if you don't want too, but unless you are some sort of manic depressive, based on this event you would be guaranteed a thoroughly enjoyable evening..... I loved it
