Xmas Five Miler

December 2010

Sunday 19th of December saw the inaugural run of the - "East Garston Festive 5 Miler".  A five mile race over roads and tracks within the parish. The event was the brainchild of Andrew James and Freddie Tulloch.
Registration for the event took place in The Social Club, immediately prior to the race itself.
The competitors started from Back Street and enjoyed a lovely run round the picturesque village of East Garston, before setting about the long stretch of hill to Pounds Farm. The route continued down Summerdown Gallops, a tough yet rewarding course with spectacular views from the top of the famous Lambourn Downs.

Some 30 minutes later the runners started to appear at the finishing line, with Andrew James at the head of the field.

Our younger residents were not left out and look as though they thouroughly enjoyed their mini-race.

Presentations were made to the catogory winners by East Garston Parish Councillor - Lady Eyre. (Monica)
