The Bell Aldworth

Garston Gallopers at The Bell Inn Aldworth

We were all looking forward to meeting up with OBJ Border Morris at The Bell Inn, Aldworth on Tuesday 26th June,
and were not disappointed. It was a very pretty little pub in a delightful village.

We had a slightly problematic start since traffic problems on the A34 meant some of our dancers and one of our melodeon players were delayed so our numbers were down. OBJ had not been affected so were at full strength from the start.
Due to lack of space, dancing took place in the road in front of the pub. It was a quiet road and most drivers of cars that came along didn’t seem to mind waiting ‘til a dance finished before being able to pass!
We had amazing hospitality from The Bell Inn staff, who produced a delicious array of food for us all throughout the evening.
The audience was excellent too and joined in enthusiastically when invited.
Alan H had made a wooden Wassail Cup for OBJ, promised at their Wassail in January. This was presented at the end of the evening, and they were extremely pleased with it. We look forward to seeing it used in the Wassail Ceremony next year.
