Summer Dance

East Garston Social Club Annual Summer Dance

The annual Village Summer Dance is by tradition, an outdoor affair, thus it is entirely at the mercy of the weather. If it rains then the group, although dry by nature of the fact that they are on a covered stage - play to themselves, as their audience has understandably bolted for the shelter of the club room. This year the outdoor theme continued, but the need to cross everything in the hope of good weather was completely removed. This year’s Summer Dance, held on Saturday 25th June 2011 was for the first time held in the Village Marquee in the car park of the Social Club.
Live music was provided by Rudi la Crioux & the Allstars. This was the second time this group had visited East Garston. Rudy La Crioux And The All Stars have been playing on the Rock n' Roll’ scene now since 1998. This band have played alongside some of the great Rock ‘n’ Roll legends such as Scotty Moore, The Comets, Johnny Powers and Jack Scott.
Over 70 people attended, and as can be seen in these pictures, they wasted no time in setting about enjoying the evening. There was a very friendly and happy atmosphere within, fuelled to a high degree by some good old Rockabilly music - a great time was had by all!
There are a few special mentions for people who gave us their time and expertise, and without whom the whole evening would have been far harder to set up than it was. We would like to thank Ross Gibbard and Raymond Baker for erecting the marquee, Sally Smith and her team of helpers for decorating it and Adele Porter for cooking a lovely supper. Last but by no means least, the organisors wish thank everyone who came and supported the function and for making the whole evening a most pleasurable few hours.
